Got the SCSI cables + controller in the mail today so I was able to get that old rig up and running! It’s got MS-DOS on it right now and I’m formatting another SCSI drive.

Reminds me of a couple of Dell PowerEdge SC430s that I have to get rid of at work. They have Pentium D processors and whole 1 GB of RAM!

SC430? I’ll take one.

What are the specs or was that in another post? Also the fact that it has little wheels makes me happier than it should.

Are you planning on using this for anything or what

That video card is pretty weak. You should totally find a Voodoo 2 to throw in there.
Do wish I had a gameport though (seems like you might have 2). Or rather that my Wingman Interceptor joystick was USB (definitely the best non-HOTAS stick):

Needs MOAR ribbon cables. Because ribbon cables are like ribbon candy, you can't stop once you start...

Yeah, I mean I had my Voodoo 2 (12MB!) in a PII 233, which had a 2MB ATI Rage IIc card as its standard adapter, which was still ok. But you’re cutting yourself off from all of the Glide games with just the Matrox. I guess depending on what you want to play its not a big deal.

That’s awesome!
I think the funny thing is that I got a 7200RPM SCSI HD running DOS + WfW 3.11. It flies

Hey, I’ve got a quick question for you. I pulled a relatively new Lenovo T450 Thinkpad out of the trash today. It belonged to a guy in my building who moved back to his home country many months ago. It’s running Windows 7 and the OS is locked (I can’t log on because I don’t know his password) but the BIOS and everything else is open. How would I go about wiping the computer and starting fresh?

Plug in a bootable USB flash drive/external drive with a Windows instalelr and you can clean it that way. That’s a pretty damn nice garbage find though.

Thanks, I got frustrated and just threw on Ubuntu. We’ll see how this goes!
